Please consider this letter notification from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville of a
collaborative agreement between Maryville College, Maryville, Tenn. and the College of
Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee. The two parties have entered into a collaborative
agreement to offer a dual degree program of a Bachelor’s degree and the Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine, and per the guidelines as stated in the Substantive Change for Accredited Institutions
of the Commission on Colleges - Policy Statement and Procedures, Agreements Involving Joint
and Dual Academic Awards: Policy and Procedures, and Core Requirement 2.7.1 (Program
Length) Interpretation this is serving as notification of the new agreement.

DUAL DEGREE PROGRAM AGREEMENT
The University
of
Tennessee, on behalf
of
its College
of
Veterinary Medicine and Maryville College
agree to cooperate
in
a dual degree program leading to a baccalaureate degree from Maryville College and
a doctorate

veterinary medicine from the University
of
Tennessee. Under this agreement, a student will
spend three years at Maryville College, and then complete the requirements for a Doctor

Medicine degree at the University

Tennessee. Students will be admitted to the
UTCVM

Veterinary Medicine program through normal application processes, and no guarantee

Maryville College will designate a Liaison
Officer to coordinate the dual degree program on campus.
The Liaison
Officer will make current and prospective students aware
of
the program, and ensure that the
program is advertised
in
the MC Catalog and
in
other promotional literature. The Liaison Officer will
also notify his
or
her counterpart at the College
of
Veterinary Medicine
of
relevant curriculum changes
that would affect the administration
of
this program.
The College
of
Veterinary Medicine at the University
of
Tennessee will also name a Liaison Officer to
coordinate the program at
UT. The College
of
Veterinary Medicine Liaison Officer will also notify his
or
her counterpart at Maryville College
of
relevant curriculum changes that would affect the administration
ofthis
program.
Course equivalencies
in
effect at the time
of
this agreement have been established and will be updated as
needed within the terms
of
this agreement.
The agreement will be evaluated after a ten-year period to determine what changes can be made to make
it more useful to both Maryville College and the
UT College
of
Veterinary Medicine.
